Second Generation Safety Rod Thermostat. The Backermatic BMST Thermostat is an ideal solution for retrofit to existing installations as it is possible to bring your old system up to the new standard by simply changing the thermostat. Alternatively it can be incorporated into any of the Immersion range (Backer type VC) to enable the Immersion heaters to meet the new standard. This range of BMST thermostats incorporate a secondary safety cut-out, which is independent of the main thermostat. The new thermostats have a second set of contacts which open and limit the water temperature to 98 Degrees centigrade should the primary thermostat fail. The second cut-out is non self-resetting.
